Because
service is one of the main focuses of our congregation, we
have many different, ongoing opportunities to volunteer.
We are always happy to have more hands to help, so feel free
to contact us if there is something you're interested in!
Blue
Jean Servant Sundays
These are designated Sundays where
we spend some time after services going to member and
non-member homes where house repairs and maintenance
tasks are needed by elderly or physically disabled persons.
Blue Jean Servant Sundays began and continue with 30-35
folks participating each time. TO

Ministry of Encouragement
Our first outreach attempt as a new congregation!
We offer short visits to various agencies and community programs
to take them a "Thank
You!" for all they do. Our visits consist of a
modest "party" with
homemade goodies and prizes, and a word of encouragement
from Galatians via a certificate of appreciation in which
we named them as ministers. Our first visit was to the Hopeline
Domestic Violence Shelter, and we have carried on the tradition
to many other organizations to show our appreciation. TO

Mission Trips
Occasionally, as needs become known, we will participate
in mission trips both near and far. Our last mission trip was
to Biloxi to join with Habitat for Humanit to build homes for
victims of Hurricane Katrina. TO

Nights of Hospitality
This is a feeding ministry to the homeless in Elizabeth City
begun by Good Shepherd. There are now three other congregations
joining us in this effort which began feeding about 15 folks
and now regularly feeds about 50. We are committed to providing
both food and connection with this often marginalized population.
Some worship regularly with us and just recently we rejoiced
when two of our regulars found housing. We pray for God
to change hearts and enlighten public policy through
human-to-human interaction with these brothers and sisters
who are homeless. TO
