Ministry Center Updates
October 31: Dedication Sunday - the first service in the new Ministry Center! What a wonderful celebration!

October 13: The new electronic sign has gone up in front of the building - stay tuned to see it in action!

August 22: With the addition of the roof, the ministry center is getting more "real" by the day!

August 10: We now have walls attached to the center! It's beginning to look like a real church home!

July 15:
Chesson's began the erection of the building - we now have steel reaching toward the sky! Once the shell of the building is completed (most likely a couple of weeks), then they can start work on the inside of the building.

Some data on the physical building/land plans:

1. We now have "Commitment Letters" for our building undertaking for $750,000. $300,000 from North Carolina Lutheran Men in Mission/Home Mission Foundation and $450,000 from East Carolina Bank. The rates and terms for both loans are excellent.

2. The building plans are now in the final phase. We had several requested changes and modifications to the first set of detailed plans and drawings that the contractor and civil engineering firm supplied.

3. The stringent state requirements to receive approval for the site plan is a time problem. There are two state agencies that must approve the site plans. This requirement may delay actual "construction-start-date" into March.

Groundbreaking!
Over one hundred members and friends of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church braved the rain Sunday, December 13th to break ground for the Ministry Center soon to be built.

Good Shepherd bought the land off route 17 south and Interpath Parkway in 2004. Having no building of our own, we have worshiped and run our various ministries from rented space. We will continue to do so at our present location on route 17S until the Ministry Center is completed in mid-2010.

The new Ministry Center will allow for growth in membership. Members foresee that having the Ministry Center will open up new possibilities to expand current ministries in the community and to begin new ones as needs arise.

New Signage for Good Shepherd!
With the help of Stewart Signs, we are working towards a new outdoor sign to suit our new growth plans. We look forward to seeing the finished product and give thanks for this first step toward our "new look."

Here you see a sketch of what the new sign will look like. The top portion will be lit from within, so the white letters will "glow" on the royal blue/purple background. Below is a digital area to display secondary messages.
